MAMMUT

In 1862, Kaspar Tanner founded a rope-making business in the small town of Dintikon in Switzerland. While initially producing mainly for the agricultural sector, the focus shifted increasingly to mountain sports from the 1950s onwards. And with that, the issue of safety: Mammut launches the first nylon glacier rope on the market, develops the first Barryvox with the Swiss Army in 1969 for searching for avalanche victims and is one of the first brands to use waterproof functional material GORE-TEX. In the 1990s, the first generation of the iconic Eiger Extreme collection for mountaineering was created. Since then, the small Swiss rope manufacturer has become a global brand for mountain sports. But the brand’s innovative spirit remains just as big as it was at the beginning. In fact, even bigger than ever.
