Following on from last season’s theme of “The Members Club”, spring/summer 2019 sees the spoltight turn to the members themselves as inspiration: Pepe Jeans Insiders; their distinct and personal style.
The collection spans three categories for men and women: The Revolutionary, who is always looking for the latest innovations and trends; The Non-conformist, who expresses themselves and their creatvity - via statement slogans and logos - through what they wear; and The Curious Explorer, whose style goes beyond trends to seek authenticity and culture.
Artistic and cultural movements, as well as technological innovation for men’s footwear, the introduction of new fabrications and techniques, all provide the backdrop for this season’s direction to put Pepe Jeans footwear at the forefront of making shoes.
New developments this season include Slate, a trend-driven style of versatile cupsole sneaker, a new interpretation of the classic Tinker running shoe featuring an altered silhouette, ultralight double-density technology and a super-light construction for maximum comfort. Meanwhile, the Roland line is inpired by classic tennis shoes, boasting high-frequency details and an extra-light cupsole made from phylon. Jayker takes on a a note of formality combined with active performance tecnhnology: the evolution of last winter’s best-seller, this time it’s available in a variety of colourways. And the signature Pepe Jeans IN-G, Industry Gum, shoe also receives an update: gender-neutral, now chunkier in design and made using the finest natural rubber and canvas. Sandwal-wise and the Elsa Rafia collection takes its influence from earthy tones, natural matetrials and multicolour decoration.
Sports sandals and updates on staple winter classics provide the women’s footwear wardrobe for the season ahead. Kioto is an urban sneaker with flourishes of colour and playful details; while Koko, a sportier model, is ultralight , an urban running shoe adapted with contrasting details and logos. Sinyu, key among this season’s offering, is a trend-driven sports-jogging shoe, which nods to the trend for “dressing like dads”. Narita is a new creation based on the sports sandals with a slight platform and decorated with logomania. The dressier side of the collection encompasses heels, ballerina pumps, wedges and more – options that speak of going out.
