The new Desigual autumn-winter season honours the art of being yourself with a more contemporary collection designed for the different aspects of every woman. The collection hinges on innovation; inspiration is found in nature, in new art forms and in the fusion of cultures and remote locations that flood the Arty, Patch and Ethnic collections.

In the Arty collection, game birds, fruits and flowers jump out of the still life frame and unleash their beauty: one version features very bright colours on a black background and the other a more relaxed cotton with washed and acid effect. Knits and sweatshirts are filled with landscapes, jackets come with coloured brush strokes and T-shirt styles are refreshed for an everyday look with tassels, patches and flowers. The key style is the midi dress and the spotlight is on tulles playing with transparencies.

The Patch collection is inspired by vintage scarves with less colourful prints based on blacks and whites with little details on one hand, and more intense prints loaded with colours and animal prints such as tiger, fox and horse on the other, interacting on the garments with spontaneity and harmony. The patch gets modernised with details like tassels and shinier fabrics, while prints are mixed, featuring delicate flowers over blue or more refined prints on black. This collection features phenomenal asymmetries, masculine cut trousers and details at the neck.

The Ethnic collection plays with contrasts in Indonesian prints on maroons and coppers over black, innovating with long shirt dresses, batwing sleeves and structures with very light viscose. The relaxed tunic is the core of this collection where there is an abundance of faux fur, flocking, embroidery and lettering. A Japanese-Peruvian fusion is reflected in stretch ottoman tube skirts, on oversize sweatshirts with 3D effects and brushed fabric with contrasting trimmings.

Mickey Mouse is back in the limelight in this collection with studded details and striking prints, as well as the season’s star jacket in its most vintage form, which emulates the classic jacket with which Thomas Meyer started the brand. There is also a small Coca-Cola capsule, which features its old logo on biker jackets, outerwear and shirts.

The T-shirt collection is more creative than ever, opting for a casual look with 3D appliqué, flocking and very contemporary prints, looser styles with batwing sleeves and lots of patches.

The coat is promoted to jewel status this season, with shine, faux fur and removable elements taking centre stage. The patch fuses with lovingly created fabrics and modern cuts on apparel that’s more innovative than ever: tweed and jacquard appear with denim pockets for the first time ever, and tricot is transformed to create atypical looks for styles that usually appear as underwear. Blues reign victorious for daywear and masculine cut greys and oversize patterns for the evening, while not forgetting red and green.

The Exotic Jeans collection gives denim an update, adding new fabrics such as corduroy and plush. The black and greys range is extended to denimwear while the prints are softer and more symmetrical. Fittings are modernised with cropped lengths and higher waists, and innovation comes in the form of mum jeans and straight cropped ankle-skimmers.

Denim’s star garment, the jacket, is reinvented in colours like maroon, navy blue and green, featuring embroidery instead of trimmings, using colour matches, and adding furry details on collars and sleeves for added sophistication.
